2 Questions: Lilacs without flowers & propogating Raspberries.
Greetings from zone 6a on the shady side of the street (Boston Metrowest) -- so you get a sense of our climate. My neighbors tulips are all in bloom. I have even seen the bleeding hearts out (though I think they might be newly planted). I have a few lilacs (all babies) 2 President Grevy, 1 Miss Canada, 1 Miss Kim. All their leaves are started to unfurl. Miss Kim appears to have 13 blooms ready to grow. One of the Presidents has two flowers. And the others are flowerless. Is there anything I can do to encourage flowers? Am I too late? Did I do something to stop them from flowering? Second question: Raspberries. I planted a raspbery bush last spring and it seems to be spreading. Can I dig up one or two of the sprigs of new growth to share with my sister-in-law? What do I need to do to make this propagation to take? That's all for now. I'll let you get back to your gardens. Best wishes, and thanks in advance for your advice.
