a dog question and a gardening question rolled into one
Have any of you had problems keeping grass alive b/c of your dogs? I have a small shaded fenced in backyard and about half of the yard is concrete. When I bought the house last summer, there was some weedy grass growing in about half of it. Now, after a lot of playtime back there I have nothing but dirt. I realize technically it's still winter here but I seriously doubt anything is going to come back up. I have 2 Treeing Walker Coonhounds that tear around like crazy back there when they play, they've ripped out almost everything that was growing. Now when it rains my backyard turns into a mud pit. Even without the rain they always come back inside completely filthy. I live in zone 5 in Saint Louis. I don't know how I could possibly reseed that backyard without the dogs tearing it all up. What do you do when your backyard starts to look like the dirt at the dog park? How have you dealt with it?
