A few questions……

A few questions……

I have seen this question posted a few times, but for my sanities sake I have to ask again. My yard is covered in moss, it looks like a green carpet. It is easily 50 square feet, give or take a centimeter or two. I also have moss on my roof. I dread the thought, but I know I am gonna have to climb up there and scrape it off myself. Woohoo, anyways, Does anyone out there know of a cost effective, tried and true method of ridding myself of this moss invasion? I don't exactly have a lot of money to spend on any of the fancy products out there to get rid of moss. I have heard that soapy water works, does anyone here have any experience with that method? As for the second question, here goes. The aforementioned section of yard adamantly refuses to grow grass. It has very poor drainage and grass seed will not even take root. I plan on thinning out the trees in that section of the yard, so that it will get more sunlight. Is there a method to improve the drainage of the soil? I have two young children and want them to have a nice pretty yard to play in. Luckily I got a little time to work with, my oldest child is only two. Does anyone here know anything about tree diseases? I have trees all over my yard that are literally raining limbs the size of Buicks on my house and in my yard. If possible I will try to get some pictures of some of the limbs that fall. Not sure I can really describe what it looks like. Thanks for any help. James
