a hair cleaning question

okay before i get into this, i do wash my hair like anyone else LOL. however my problem is i have serious problem hair. it's oily at the roots and dry and splitty at the ends. a switch last year to Aussie's Dual Personality shampoo helped a bit. but my scalp is still full of what one salon girl referred to as "debris". yet when i asked how to get rid of it, she pointed to this little tube of $25 salon product. um NO. i shouldn't have to pay $25 for something that might last through five hairwashings at best. switching shampoos away from Aussie isn't an option because it helps keep the oil down. is there any household recipes that might clean my scalp better? something like how it's suggested that blondes use a lemon juice (fresh squeezed lemons) rinse now and then to keep their hair bright. i read that once in a magazine. thanks! [ETA: i forgot to mention--this problem is NOT dandruff. heh]
