A little Intro and a Question
Hi, all. Just linked over from the domesticity community. (Don't know how to do that linky-doo.) I'm 21 and honestly am terrible at keeping any kind of plant life alive, so I'm hoping to pick up some tips and inspiration. I'm wanting to plant a couple of containers of flowers. If I can keep these alive this spring/summer, maybe next year I'll try to graduate to things that I can eat. As to keeping them alive, I might be creating something out of whole cloth, but I think I read somewhere that using shrimp shells as fertilizer is a good idea. As it happens, I've got a ziploc baggie full of frozen shells that was supposed to go towards making fish stock. Yeah...never did that. So I'm wondering if I could use those in order to beef up the bagged soil that I have. (I live in an apartment, so miracle gro it is.) If I can, would I have to grind them up and mix them in or just layer them on the bottom, or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
