Hi all *waves.* I live in Boston and I managed to start seedlings from seeds that I brought over from Turkmenistan during the winter (I was a volunteer there and fell in love with their morning glories). I now want to plant them outside, in addition to some impatiens and shade-loving vines. I found a great deal on 14″ plastic pots at target and they’re actually not bad looking at all. I plan to have a total of eight of these pots on my balcony, which is rather large (14 by 16 feet or something)
My question is this: The balcony seems to be a little on the old side–it sags a little in one corner (although it’s done this since we moved in, surely the landlord had to inspect it?) and in reading about having container gardens on balconies, people always bring up weight limits. I’m going to call my land lord about what he thinks the balcony can handle, but I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance that what I want to do is reasonable. The only other thing I have out there is a rug–no furniture whatsoever, so aside from the weight of a few people, I’m really just concerned about the plants. Help?
