A Question About Herbs
I worked at a greenhouse this past summer (and two summers before this) and i have one small question about the "off" season. All summer, i grew Herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, oregano, lemon balm and lavender) in 8" pots on my patio. Now, of course, the nights are getting cold and i've decided to take them inside for fear of the frost. Everything is looking ok except for the lavender. I know it's a perennial, but what i'm not sure of is whether or not it "HAS" to go through the dormant cycle, or if i can keep it growing inside all year round. (i live in Newfoundland, i think i'm in zone 3b or 4b, i can never remember) It's obviously too late to put it in the ground right now, so does anyone have any idea of what i can do? the lavender's leaves are starting to turn pale, and some of the stems are turning brown-ish. i know i'm not over-watering them, and i fertilize with 20-20-20. I'm wondering if i should just cut it back, snipping off the wonky looking pieces or if i should just accept a loss and get over it. any advice?
