A Rose That Doesn’t Want To Hibernate!
Any English gardeners here who could explain this? Last month I pruned back all my Roses - apart from my Crimson Glory - because I pruned them back at the same time last year so that they could concentrate on storing energy in their roots for the winter. This was a huge hit, as they came back twice the height and thickness with about five times the blooms this year! I've not pruned the Crimson Glory because it's very young, but if it gets straggly over spring and summer next year I'll prune bits off to allow it to grow back thicker and healthier. This isn't the issue anyway. I just looked out in the garden and, while all the other Roses are happy to be dormant for the season, my Sweet Dream dwarf is growing back! It's November! This is one of the prettiest Roses in my garden and I adore it, so I don't want to do anything to harm it. Do I prune it back again or do I let it grow? Frosts will be hitting our area soon and I want to make sure that it doesn't get killed.
