This past weekend was the first chance we’d gotten to really get some yard work done in our new house, as little as it was. My husband trimmed some of an evergreen away from the house and clipped a little off a dogwood and hauled a lot of debris into what is becoming a mammoth leaf and debris pile.
Question: on This Old House i remember seeing a compost container that had vent on the bottom for aerating. Does anyone use a plastic one? How much would it be to find? What i need is something to help the abundant leaves become compost – and it’s all so new to me.
I have pics as well- beneath the cut, to show the challenges ahead.
This is the mound of debris!
This is the Spring Flower garden i unearthed – took bloody forever, and not complete, but worth the effort!
This is a sucking vine that i want to destroy. There is a gathering of it on part of our fense, but it attaches to a few trees like this and i am going to try to get rid of it, but don’t want to use a chemical that can harm the tree.
These are cute droopy flowers, but look at the mess! Did i mention the onslaught of acorns?
This is a broader view.
This is a holly-berry bush, but its covered in a choking vine as well.
Not the best picture- sorry. These are dried stalks that almost look like rye- wtf?
This is a sad flowerbed i inherited. I don’t know if we might just re-border and make this for veggies.
This is just a weedy flower that popped up in the front yard to say hello- it’ll probably die when the frost comes back.
