Adventures in Risky Gardening
I found what I think is a passion fruit growing on a vine that had climbed over a gaurd rail along the road near my house. It wasn't good for eating (a bit over-ripe, and had after all spent its whole life on a gaurd rail along a very busy road), and I read on the internet (the increadibly reliable source of information that it is... ha) that seeds planted imediately do better, so against my better judgement, I planted the whole busted up fruit in my yard today so that hopefully it will climb my mailbox. I'll keep you posted on the progress. Perhaps it would have done better in a pot inside, but the windowsills on the sunny side of my house are already very crowded, so we'll see. Probably, I'll try again next year if this doesn't work.
