My sisters are trying to Skype with me (because they’re in high school and can’t afford a long distance phone bill), but that isn’t working because they’ve only got dial-up. The connection only holds for about 20 seconds at a time, if that.
My parents are cheap (hence the dial-up, and making my sisters pay for all their long distance phone calls, among other things). The cheapest dsl my father could find was $100/month with a $400 installation fee (Installation fee for DSL? wtf?), so he won’t go for it.
(I know there are other options… letter writing, phone cards, etc, but I’ve already looked into that, and Skype seems the best option so far).
Do you know of any affordable DSL service providers they could check out? They’re in northern Baltimore County.
