Hi, I have a question regarding an african violet plant that I’ve had for many, many years. Apparently it was two plants which have grown to be about the same size with the longest necks I’ve ever seen. They’re leaning over the edges of the pot they’re in and both plants are quite healthy and blooming…but the necks are a bit unsightly and now the plants are seeming a bit top heavy.
My question is…is there a way to separate them without killing both plants? Will just cutting the pot dirt in half (wherever I think the bases are) work and then just putting them into deeper pots with the necks buried? I’m not even sure I have a pot deep enough to do this.
Or, can I break them off and hope they’ll re-root themselves? I don’t have any rooting hormone and I was hoping there’s a way to do without and save myself a trip.
Anyone have any experience they’re willing to share with me?
Thanx.
