Air Conditioning Problems
I have a very small 1 bedroom apartment in Boulder, Colorado. It's described as a 'studio' even though there is a bedroom in it, due to the size. My problem is that my unit is supposed to have air conditioning. It does, technically, but i doesn't seem to do anything. There IS cold air coming out of it - in a very slight trickle - and if it isn't too hot outside it seems to lower the temperature very slightly. My apartment faces east. My mother has a 2 bedroom apartment in the same complex (a bit over twice the size of mine) that also faces east - in another building. Her air conditioning works excellently, and she can keep her apartment the frigid 68 degrees (too cold for me) that she wants it. I really just want my place to be 72, I'm not asking for much! I've gone to my apartment complex office REPEATEDLY and they've had maintenence look at the poblem. They say that the air conditioner is working fine. They told me to turn it down to 60 and leave it there an it would keep things cool. It still never reaches 70 unless it is already cool outside - and stays around 75 - 80. I've told them this, and their general response is "Too bad so sad." My apartment comlex is an AIMCO property. Suggestions on what to do, what the problem might be, what to say to them, and how to deal would be GREAT. I can't leave the windows open all the time due to my cats (I know one of them would just push the screen right out, she's a little demon.) I'm resorting to leaving the window open at NIGHT so it's cool, but by the time I get up in the morning it's hot again. I'm looking into blinds and things that will help, but I'm also just angry that I'm paying for something that doesn't even WORK. My apartment building shares the bill for electricity and then it is split evenly based on the occupancy and size of your apartment - but if the air doesn't even WORK for me, why should I pay for other people who are able to use it?! Help!!
