Almanac: Superstition or Words to Plant By?

Almanac: Superstition or Words to Plant By?

On Monday I was telling my neighbor that I planned to do some seed planting today (Wednesday) because it's my day off. She immediately started telling me that, oh no, I shouldn't plant on Wednesday because the moon will be wrong. I should wait for X day when the moon will be...I dunno...something. You see, Lois (my neighbor) lives by the farmers almanac. Plant on this day. Transplant on this day. Prune on this day. Cut your hair on this day. My question is, just how much stock, if any, do you put in the almanac? To me it seems largely superstition but I know some gardeners who plan all aspects of their garden by it - to good results. Personally, I garden when work allows and the weather cooperates. For now, I'm off to put some seeds in my cold frame. Regardless of what phase the moon is in. LOL I have the day off, it's sunny and 63 degrees out there. Of course I'm going to garden!
