Alpha hydroxy acids are affordable and easy to obtain:
• Lactic acid is found in milk
• Oranges and lemons contain citric acid.
• Apples – malic acid
• Aged wine is rich with tartaric acid
• Glycolic acid is extracted from sugar cane.
Tried and True Recipes that Work:
Tea Treat Yogurt Mask (feels like noxzema)
1 TBS Greek Yogurt * (lactic acid)
1-2 drops of tea tree oil (anti bacteria/great for acne)
1TSP Honey (humectants)
Mix together and smooth on face, neck and chest for a cooling mask.
Wear for 15 to 25 minutes for best results.
I keep a traders joe container of this mask in the fridge and use daily.
Skin Brightening Lemon Yogurt Mask
1 TBS Greek Yogurt* (lactic acid)
1 TBS Lemon Juice (citric acid)
1 TSP Honey (humectants)
Mix together and smooth on face, neck and check to assist in lightening photo damage.
Wear for 15 to 25 minutes for best results.
*greek yogurt is naturally thick which makes for a better mask. You can also use full fat yogurt. Fat Free yogurts will not work.
