So I was perusing my local Wally world to see what they had coming in for their Spring selection of planters, etc. Each year I treat myself my plants to one or two of the lovely “self watering” from the bottom pots. So far all my hanging plants have been moved into the hanging pots and have done so well, and I have some window box ones that I got end of season last year. They are a really pretty green, that tha label calls “Avocado”. Maybe you guys know what I’m referring too.
Anyhow I caught a glimpse all the marked down drama from their Valentines aisle and saw they had quite a few potted miniature roses still. I was VERY excited, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE roses, and have been struggling for the past few years to get the poor neglected things in the yard from the previous owners back into shape. They’re getting there, but only one is really THRIVING, after issues with black spot and mildew. Anyhow, end of this summer some may remember my post about pulling them all up (except the only happy one) and hacking all the poorly gnarled and rotted roots and growth, and how they showed signs of IMMEDIATE improvement, so Spring will tell how happy they may now be (fingers crossed).
So I picked uo four pots; a white “Cupido”, a hot pink “Kordana”, a DEEP red “Kordana” and bright red “Parade”. I looked pretty disturbed to other shoppers I’m sure pulling down all the plastic junk to check out the stalke/stems/etc on EACH and EVERY one (thankfully there were only maybe 20 left to choose from) so I picked the healthiest of the each color bloom I wanted. They all had four plants per pot, one variety per pot. The bright red Parade I gave to my mom to brighten up her office and will be repotting into a fun, pleasant pot. The others I planted in the aforementioned water from the bottom window boxes and they just look SOO lovely!
I was so happy to have this snowed in business so long as I had 16 mini roses to attend to; remoiving bad or broken leaves and stem and trimming all the what not that was needed before repotting. I’m literally on cloud 9 from my dirty handed adventures of the afternoon so I just thought I’d share.
