And Some Thrived on Stony Ground

I had a big pile of exhausted, rubble/soil from removing a raised bed that had contained a fruit tree.
So I piled it in a corner and slung in the half dozen awful little wizened Charlotte second earlies I couldn’t fit in my spud bed. Then I just left it – no earthing up. No weeding. Nothing. Today I went out and cleared the soil to make way for my new chicken house that’s arriving on Wednesday. I was amazed. I came back with a big box of Charlottes – some of them whoppers – from that heap of stony yuck! We’ve just eaten some with with an omlette (courtesy of my hens) and a freaky tomato salad. Yum!
