Animal Health on the Cheap.
A friend and her roommates are taking care of a kitten while the owner's away. The kitten's clearly too young to be away from it's mother and is ill besides, but the owner's never had a cat before and needs a clue-by-four and a pet-care class. Those may beyond the ability of this community to provide. *wry* However, we've realized since its arrival that the kitten is ill, and certainly needs to be taken to a vet. It's not life-threatening, but there's concerns about shots perhaps not having been administered, and other things. The owner's current excuse is that a vet trip would be "too expensive." I think we can all agree that taking in an animal you cannot afford to keep is not a poor_skill, and that neglecting said animal is even worse, so I'm turning to you guys. What resources might be out there for pet owners with limited means (or who are using their limited means as an excuse)? Bonus points if you can suggest something for the Provo area. I'm tempted to recommend Animal Control, myself. At least the kitten would receive the medical attention it needs.
