You all were so awesome with the first batch of puzzle plants that I went out and photographed some more!
First up: is this an oriental poppy? My neighbor says she remembers them from last year, and I know they are fuzzy…

Next: I have a couple of mounds of this stuff — friend or weed?

#3: Another one that I can’t tell if it’s a weed or not…we have a few bunches.

#4: This one is a border plant next to our walkway, under our gigantic forsythia.

#5: Here’s another bulb/tuber/rhizome that I don’t recognize. Hey, maybe these are the irises I hope for, but I doubt it.

#6: These look like my cosmos seedlings do, but I suppose they could be anything at such a young age.

Bonus Time!
We have an enormous, overgrown azalea:
Which is mostly crispy and brown:
But does have some green bits (on the back, in the shade and away from the road):
Any ideas what’s wrong with it? Is it worth rescuing? How can it be resuscitated? Should it just be dug up and replaced? I like azaleas, but this one looks to me like it’s seen better days.
