Another new person!

I’ve been watching this community for about a week now and I just love it! I love seeing everyones places. It inspired me to redo my living room.

Here’s the story on me & my apartment!

I’m 23 years old and have been living in this apartment alone with my dog for a year now. It’s a 1 bedroom 1 bath with a balcony. It’s really my first real apartment…. I had an apartment in California with an ex boyfriend but I don’t feel it was truly my apartment because it was his before I moved in. This apartment is rather small but it’s fine for just one person. The bathroom is a nice size (I guess) and the bedroom is pretty large. The kitchen is what I hate most about this apartment – it’s so tiny that 2 people can’t even really fit into it. I’ll post pictures of it when I get my dishes cleaned, right now they’re piling up in the sink and look pretty unattractive. :) I’m going to be redoing my bedroom next as soon as I find a queen size bed frame. Right now I have 2 queen size mattress that I got donated to me when a previous residence of mine caught fire (luckily all of my posessions were spared, just a little smoke damaged!).

So here is my living room. As you can see I really lack wall decorations. I don’t have the money to purchase any, which is sad. I’ve lived here a year already and still my walls are basically bare as can be. I’m not allowed to paint the walls or put any holes in them whatsoever. However I used tiny sewing needles at an angle to hang the pictures frames you can see in these pictures.

In this picture you see my “office” area – which is really supposed to be a dining area. See that hideous blue rug placed awkwardly in the middle of the floor? Yeah.. it was a last resort. See my ex boyfriend made spaghetti one evening while I was at work. He then proceeded to spill his spaghetti onto the carpet. Freaking out and knowing I’d be upset – he grabbed TOILET BOWL CLEANER to clean it up. This is what happened.

So needless to say I wont be getting my security deposit back when I move out. Pitty.

When I moved here I had absolutely nothing. Most everything you see in these pictures was given to me by family members and friends. Minus the computer desk, I found that by a dumpster. I’ll post pictures of my balcony, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen as I get them cleaned up. I would’ve taken pictures of my balcony today but it’s 1:30am..

Anyway. Is there a community where people can trade/sell/give away decorations or house hold items? I have a few shelves I can’t put up and would like to possibly gain some art work as well.
