Any disadvantages to using an unfinished basement for a bedroom?

Any disadvantages to using an unfinished basement for a bedroom?

So a bunch of my friends and I are renting a house. I'd been told by one of the future roommates that the basement was finished, and I'd planned on using half of it for a bedroom if no one else wanted it (with the other half going the other person who wanted the basement) and leave the smaller intended bedrooms for other people. It would probably be the quietest room in the house overall, sounds of people walking upstairs excepted, and the most isolated for when I just wanted to get away from my housemates. But, upon looking at the pictures on the realtor's web site, the basement does not look finished. It's possible that work might have been done since the photo was taken, but it would probably be mentioned in the description if it was finished, now that I think about it. Even if the basement isn't finished, I'm thinking of moving down there, anyway. Aside from the cold (which is the other reason I wanted the basement; I like it a bit cool) the aesthetics (which I can deal with,) and the slight risk of flooding (I'm keeping anything not waterproof up off the floor, just in case) are there any disadvantages to making an unfinished basement my bedroom?
