Any ideas on how to get a replacement fuel door?
The post about tires made me wonder if I might find some help for my car issue here. I have a Toyota Celica 2001 and the fuel door hinge rusted off. Now from looking at the thing inside, it looks like I could just unscrew the hinge with the right tool and replace the whole fuel door (if you don't know what I'm talking about it's the part that pops open when you go to get gas, right before you unscrew the cap). The only thing is, I cannot find one ANYWHERE. I've found a few toyota fuel doors on ebay for super cheap, but they're from older models and my husband says they wouldn't fit right, that it would have to be from the same series (2000-2005) in order to work for us. I've looked at so many auto parts websites and called up all the local stores, I've tried junkyards and I just don't know what to do. For the last six months I've been taping the thing on with duct tape and redoing the tape every time I get gas. Hell on the paint job, but the door stays on. I'm at a loss because the door does not seem to be available for purchase anywhere, even though the cap and just about anything else I might need to build a car from scratch is available. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm willing to call/write/have something shipped if necessary.
