applying for a mortgage with a low(ish) credit score
My husband and I hope to be apply for a mortgage and buy a home very soon-- i.e., within the next three months. We have a nice amount saved up for the down payment (around 10%) and are meeting with our realtor and the lender she works with next week. The only thing I'm worried about is our credit scores. We're both in the 670s--so not TERRIBLE, but yeah, they could be a lot better (and yes, we are working on improving them, but obviously that won't happen within the next week). I know a lot has changed lately with lending practices, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any RECENT experience in applying for a home loan with less-than-perfect credit. Any other poor skill home-buying advice is also much appreciated. Thanks!
