Attracting Butterflies

Attracting Butterflies

When planning a flower bed, we had a couple things we wanted: low maintenance, natural looking, and it must be beneficial to birds &/or butterflies. A coworker of mine gave me a TON of sedum cuttings last year and I was shocked that they even bloomed, let alone all the butterflies and bees that were around them! Then, my neighbor gave me a little clump of salvia that has since become the bane of my existence because it keeps having babies and spreading all over the place. But, it attracts the birds, bees and butterflies in force! I took these pictures this afternoon, but the real reason I am posting them– in addition to showing off my flowers and friends– is to find out if anyone knows what type of butterfly (or moth?) these are. They are by far the most common visitor to any of my plants and flowers.
