I’m freaking out. Somebody, presumably the neighbors (there’s nobody else who could even see it!) has snipped in half a baby Douglas Fir I planted last year in the back yard. It was leafing out beautifully with new growth and appeared to be surviving wonderfully. Now I found it lying right next to its stump with a clean mechanical diagonal cut severing it.
I am completely aghast. I don’t know whether to call the police to report a vandalism, or keep it a secret so my husband doesn’t go next door and beat the crap out of someone. Mostly I am just really sad that someone would do something like that. If they had something against it why didn’t they come tell me in person so I could move the tree before it got established? Or was it just totally random destruction? Sigh.
