Backyard in progress
I took some pictures of my backyard for a friend so I thought I'd post some of them here. Warning in advance, they might be a bit blurry as it was really windy when I took them. A picture of the backyard from my doorstep. I got the blue rainbarrel from my fatherinlaw and am loving it. The flowers do so much better with rainwater and it's much better for the environment. It also stops my backyard from getting mini flooded & leaking into my garage during bad rainstorms. Lupine that I started from seed last year. I had several planted last year but the girl who was looking after my house & yard while I was getting married didn't water the garden at all. I had one survive but he's a fighter as he's back this year, better than ever & overcrowding the Delphinium I have planted beside him. Snapdragons for my hubby, they're one of his favourite flowers so I try to plant some for him each year. My perennial pansies (viola) self seeded themselves & crossbred while they were at it. This is one of my new hybrids this year. Here's another one of the self seeded hybrids. It planted itself in front of my monkshood. Here is one of the original perennials from last year that the striped hybrids came from. Some Columbine that I got from my grandma's garden last August after she passed away. Same thing with the irises in the picture and the small delphinium in the back. I'm glad I got them when I did, the people who bought the house said my aunt could go in the fall & get all the flowers she wanted from the garden but they took a backhoe & ripped them all out before mid Sept. I was very upset, my grandma had the most amazing garden & flower beds. People who got married at the church across the street from her used to ask to take pictures in her yard it was so nice. My $2.99 clearance special bleeding heart from last year is loving where I put it. I need to move the coral bells and the lupine back there as it's overcrowding both of them. It's a bit blurry (it was really windy when I took the pictures) and the camera didn't capture the vibrant colours but this is one of my favourite pansies (violas) in my garden. And that's all that's blooming right now. I'll try to post more when the irises are in full bloom.
