So I found this site that helps you know what to substitute in a recipe. Which I thought would be useful to folks here to are unable to afford "that one ingredient" that keeps them from making a certain recipe. A question: It says that in cakes and quick breads, I can substitute 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 cup vegetable oil for 1 cup of butter. Does this mean, if the recipe asks for 1/2 cup of vegetable oil (and I have none) I can use 1/2 cup of melted butter? Thanks.
