Bank account question.
Since I've never worked jobs where I earned much money (just enough for spending money/gas, really), I haven't had a bank account for years. The last time I had one, I was hit with 3 overdraft fees cos of that whole "when you get gas, they put a hold on your account for the amount and you can still get stuff w your debit card but really the money isn't there"..hopefully you know what I mean. The end result was Bank of America sending me stuff saying I owed them $90, which I did not have. I still get stuff from them, or I think actually collection agencies, saying I owe them $120 or something. I never have $120 to spare. I do intend to pay it whenever I can get that much money together, but I can't right now. I am a waitress, and whenever I work, I end up using everything I made to get gas and groceries. The most I ever have left over is like $20, and that ends up getting used within a day or two for food. So I have two questions. 1. Is it worth me getting a bank account? Say if I tried to put, like, $10 from every time I work into it? 2. If I did try to get a bank account, would the bank I try to get an account with be able to see that I owe BoA money and thus refuse to give me an account? Thanks.
