I’m getting ready to move to Atlanta (I live in the suburbs right now) in a few months. I’m looking for an apartment. Right now, I don’t really know anyone I could slit a place with, so I’ve been investigating basement apartments. I have *heard* that homeowners are converting their basements into mini-apartments to make some extra money to help pay their mortgages. But, how do you find these? I’ve begun looking at Craigslist, but what I’m seeing are single rooms for rent.
Anyone with experience renting a basement (or attic as the case may be) apartment? Are they more cost-effective?
Any ideas for housing hunting on the cheap? I’ll be in Grad school and am working with an extremely limited budget.
