beard tongue

beard tongue

last year i planted a beard tongue. it was a small 2-3 stalk with red blooms. over the summer it grew to a good 4 times its size from when i first got it. absolutely beautiful. in *early* spring i finally cut back the foliage on it, leaving the three thick stalks. since the weather has been warming up, everything in my garden has pushed their way up and is growing well. however, my beard tongue has yet to show any sign of life. i'm afraid i did something wrong....... this makes me sad. has anyone planted these before/worked with them? i'm curious if this guy just needs a little more time to show his stuff or if i need to bid farewell to the bare stalks.
