I am getting ready to move soon and when I get there I will need to buy furniture for my bedroom, as what I use now must be left where it is. I've been browsing around and I have to admit I was pretty surprised by the high price of bedroom sets. I suppose, with a credit card, I could pay a few thousand for bedroom furniture, but I do not want to be paying that off on my credit card, and furniture is just one of those random things that I can't bring myself to be ok with shelling out that kind of money for anyway, especially to the tune of making payments. My mother is trying to convince me to go this route, saying that if I "invest" in nice furniture I will "have it forever" but I am not so sure I am into this line of reasoning. I just....can't....convince myself to spend thousands of dollars on furniture. Can't do it. Plus, the truth is that which technically I could charge it, if I really examine my budget, I can't afford it, which my mother can't understand because it has been a very long time since she has been in a position where she has been unable to afford anything she would like.
Anyway. I need suggestions as to where I could go to look for inexpensively priced bedroom furniture. This is what I would like:
Queen bed frame, wood/wood-like, headboard, no footboard (too tall)
Dresser (many brownie points if it were the kind with a mirror attached)
Two night stands
One picky thing: I would like them to match.
Before you say Ikea - I went there today, and nearly all the wood styles are extremely low to the ground, which is my one other picky thing, I can't do the three feet off the ground thing. There were a few others, but I wasn't pleased with the price vs. quality of them etc. The one tall, wood bed, the unfinished pine for $70, a friend has had and warned me against for quality reasons (fell apart on her). No luck with Ikea.
I have looked at, Macy's JC Penny's, Mor, Basset, Dania...these are the thousands of dollars I am talking about.
