beginner’s update

I’m really mostly growing veggies, but I love lilies, so I decided to plant a few of those, too. Yesterday, two started blooming, which was exciting because I got a bag of mixed bulbs and therefore don’t know exactly what kinds I have. This one is lovely!

I also managed to get some of my other planting done last week. I planted a sort of three sisters method with an heirloom sweet corn, shelling peas, and giant pumpkins. That was only a few days ago, so nothing has come up quite yet.

Also with that, in my main plot, I transplanted some of my broccoli and kohlrabi seedlings. The broccoli is looking bigger already and the kohlrabi, though I was a bit worried about it at first, has started to grow more leaves! So, they’re doing well. I also planted my honeydew near the very edge so that it would have room to vine along the yard. My watermelons are planted outside the main plot, but I got those into the ground as well.

I still have some planting to do, but of course, I overdid it and put myself into a bit of a flare with my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, but that will clear up in a few days and I’ll be able to plant the rest. We’ll just pretend that I’m staggering the crops on purpose so that I don’t have the entire harvest all at once!
