Benefits confuse me terribly…

I asked about a similar issue last year, but things changed a bit, and I just want to make sure I'm not going to get into trouble down the line. Last year, I was making almost literally NO money (unpaid internship and 8 hours/week PT job), so I signed up for Planned Parenthood's "family planning" program. Free exams and BC for a year. During that time, I graduated and found a (crappy, unrelated) job. I still fell below the income cutoff. Last month, I got my renewal application... at the same time I found a better job. Since I hadn't started the new job yet, and wouldn't have any of the required information before the deadline, I had to apply based on my old job/income. Yesterday, I received 2 letters from the medicaid office... one telling me that I had already been approved to continue the program, and the other (dated a day earlier) saying that they couldn't make the decision until I sent them a copy of my insurance card. So I called my worker, and asked which was correct. She said that I was approved, but they just needed the insurance card for their records. I explained that I'd since gotten a different job and different insurance. She said this was fine, and to just send a copy of the new card. I asked if I needed to change the rest of my info, and she said, "No, you're already approved for the year." Then she asked whether my income had changed... I told her that it had, so she asked for my biweekly salary. I told her, and she said, "Ok, you're fine." Thing is...according to PP's website, what I make now is well ABOVE the cutoff (though it's still not exactly a ton of money). I'd like to stay in the family planning program, because "free" is a much better deal than my insurance is giving me... but I don't want to get into trouble down the line if I'm not supposed to have it. So, for anyone else in this program... does a change in income not matter after you've been approved for the year? And if so, why did she ask about my income? I'm in NY state, if that makes any difference.
