berry and squash questions
1. Due to the sudden abundance of morning light in my garden, my strawberries are fruiting like crazy. Each plant has eight or ten baby berries on it now. Does having so many berries hinder ripening, or should I leave them as is? 2. In the past I've had problems with summer squash plants making very few female flowers but tons of male ones. This year I'm growing the same variety in the same place, but the plants - which are still very small - have about five tiny female flowers each already. Same thing is happening to the cucumbers. The only differences are the light and using blood meal instead of Gardens Alive vegetable fertilizer - which do you think is the reason? And should I snip them off so the plants can develop more leaves before fruiting? 3. Not a question, but soon I will have more raspberries than I know what to do with, and I am very pleased.
