I'm mostly a veggie gardener (and a total novice even at that!), although I'm branching into flowers some this year. I only garden outside though - generally my cats make it too difficult to attempt to have plants inside - and I've never really had an interest in trees.
That said, I don't have a lot of luck attempting to find the answer to my question in bird communities, because generally the answer is to pass on the link to bird-safe trees or to say, "Good luck finding one that has been raised organically!" Neither of which are actually an answer.
So, what I'm wondering, given the whole safe/not safe for pet parrots factor, are there any trees that are appropriate for indoor growth (even if just for awhile) for my birds. Ideally I'd be giving them a tree that wasn't treated with anything that could be dangerous, that was safe all around (leaves, bark, and wood under bark). Something that wouldn't kill my cats if THEY ate the leaves would be primo, but I can take steps to keep the cats away from it since it's for the birds anyway.
If anyone has any suggestion I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much. :) (Bogey in my icon and Sullivan the Blue Crown will appreciate it, too. :D )
