Boston on the Cheap?

Boston on the Cheap?

A friend and I are looking to spend 7-14 days in Boston this July for some things going on around the Colonial Theater but we're looking to do it as inexpensively as possible, while still being safe for 2 females. We've never been to this city and will try to find side jobs to help cover the costs, but we're also looking for tips from those who have Boston experience! Everything from where to find affordable housing (we're willing to use sleeping bags or share a bed or whatnot) to cheap food to whatever else you care to share! Tips/Tricks/Thoughts? Thanks so much! edit: we're interested in anything and everything, so all suggestions are welcome, however info in terms of things close to the Colonial Theater and affordable accommodations are especially fabulous!
