Bromeliad question.

Bromeliad question.

Thanks to those of you who helped with my last question about my plant that was a snack for the cat. I will update if he begins to grow back. <3 So I go to Curves and they have quite a lot of plants. Well the Bromeliad is dieing. The owner was talking about it and how she had no idea what to do and didn't even know what kind of plant it was. Having one here at home I told her what it was. She then asked if I'd take it and try to help it live since she can't do anything beyond killing it. So now I have this poor thing. I have plant food and I have kept mine alive and healthy. I would love some tips on anything special I can do to bring this one back to life. -- Also, mine has sprouted a baby next to it in the pot. What would be the safest way to remove said baby without damaging my plant? I'd like to not kill the baby in the process if at all possible. I always have room for more plants and I do have a few small pots for it to begin life in.
