Bug problem: part 2
So... I got a new potting mix and two little sundew plants. The potting mix I had before was for orchids, but it had a lot of dirt. It was pretty much dirt mixed with bark. This new stuff I got is sponsored by the American Orchid Society, and all it has in it is raw fir bark, hardwood charcoal, and course perlite. I trimmed the bad roots off and any other dead plant parts. I cleaned the pots with a mild, anti bacterial soap, and then repotted all of the orchids in the new mix. The sundews are already catching flies! They're definitely fungus flies. I can get a better look at them when they're laying dead in the sundew. heh. The sundews are in these hard plastic containers with lids. They're in a peat moss, sphagnum moss mix. I took the lids off so that they can feed. What should I know about these? How long should I leave the lids off? When/ how should I replant them?
