Buying Meat

Buying Meat

Just wanted to reiterate to everyone to check your local stores about what they do with meat close to the sell-by date. If you freeze or cook this meat by that date, there is nothing wrong with it. Around my town Thursday is the day for really good bargains. Last night I got a blister pack of 22 pieces of Candian Bacon for 1.12, I also got 5 ham slices for 1.99. I will use this for breakfast for our five kidlets as they head back to school the 22nd. Additionally, my one local store marinates chicken breasts, big chicken breasts, in three types of marinade- these were marked down yesterday to about $3-$4 per package (usually 2-3 breasts- sold by weight) on top of that they had "instant rebates" of 1.00 to 2.00 per package depending on size. These usually sell for $7-$8 per package making them out of reach for me with our normal grocery budget. Just thought I would pass this along! :)
