my partner and i are close to finalizing the purchasing an apartment in a coop in NYC
As expected things over the last week have revolved pretty solidly around everything that is happening with purchasing this apartment. It’s funny we’ve both become pretty addicted to playing online tetris and ‘making the pieces fall into place’ which really serves as a larger metaphore for how well the process of home buying has gone so far. this week brought lots of big changes, officially signing the contract, and writing the BIGGEST check either of us have ever seen, the seller signing the contract and returning it to our attorney, interviewing/getting quotes from movers, our selling date being completely set by all parties, our move in date being confirmed by all parties, and hiring our movers. we’ve also been doing lots of packing, and have listed our apt.in harlem several times and shown it to a few people—no one has bitten yet but were’ hoping that soon we’ll have the place re-leased.
we’re officially closing on Thursday June 25th and moving in on Friday June 26th
anyway—– i don’t know how long the listing for the apt. will stay online but i wanted to share all the pics that are in it here so that all of you can see where we are moving! the building is called ‘the dearborn’ which means that someday i want to have a picture of a deer on our wall :p i also intend to be a nerd and include the building name when writing our address :p It’s absolutely beautiful- the building was a hotel in the 1920′s and the lobby still reflects a lot of that charm. Our new place is also HUGE (by NYC standards). anyway here’s our new home! it’s hard to believe that in a little over a week and ahalf we will be living there, I’m so excited!

i posted pics of our soon to be old apartmnt not long after we moved into it about two years ago, the pics are before we got most of the art up on the walls etc. but it still gives you a little idea of our taste/style etc. I think that given the history of the building we’re also going to incorporate some art noveau qualities in the new place
