Canned Meat Taste
A few weeks ago my partner and I switched to incorporating more canned meat into our cooking. The logic was this: * we have no guarantee we'll use fresh meat in time due to our schedules * we have no time to batch cook when the meat is fresh * we cannot do day-of shopping because of the time we get home * freezer space is next to non-existent * we do not want to remove meat from our diet The problem is this: it has a taste. I don't know if we're crazy but it has distinct taste that carries regardless of the meat. Is there a way of leech the taste out of the meat? Or ways of preparing it that get rid of the taste? Again, we could just be crazy, but regardless of what meat it is or how we prepare it has this distinct taste which we've come to associate with the cans. Also, in case this comes up, the cans are stored properly and are not expired. Update: Thank you very much for all the advice and assuring me we're not crazy for recognizing the taste. Unfortunately, all the limitations I listed are immutable for quite sometime, so options like freezing meat [no space], batch cooking [no time] or doing our own canning [no time] aren't much of an option. Thank you though!
