I broadcast seeded a three foot by 10 foot patch of carrots three weeks ago and they are starting to sprout, a sure sign that Spring is here in Zone 6.
I always have difficulty evening out the seeds. This patch has to be thinned an there are spots that need to be reseeded. Any hints on even seeding? I thin them to 3 inches in all directions, and get enormous yields. Of course to get that yield I use three inches of compost, a half inch of dried manure, greensand, lime and rock phosphate.
