Cedar bark mulch

Cedar bark mulch

OK, question. I've done a little research and I can't find a definitive answer. I've heard that cedar mulch has allelopathic properties and therefore shouldn't be used as a mulch for any garden. Conversely, I've seen several reports of people using it for herb gardens or rose beds. I have a couple of bags I'd like to use to mulch my herb garden, since the mulch will keep bugs at bay and smells just wonderful, but I don't want to put it on there if it will kill my garden. Anyone have any advice/experience with cedar mulch in a herb garden?
