Cheap decorating options
Hi all, I've never posted here before, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to posting pics of my current apartment. I might post some of my room if I ever get my room to the point where I'm satisfied enough with it, I have roommates and most of the furniture in our shared space is actually our land lady's, so I don't have the same kind of pride and ownership of it. I did want to share a discovery I've made in the last year, which is Daiso, a Japanese dollar store. There are locations world-wide, though they're still very limited, and I don't think they do online shopping. However, I imagine there are probably other Japanese dollar stores to choose from as well. At Daiso most things are a buck fifty, and they have friggin everything. Some things there are more expensive, but you can buy alot there and still keep the tab below 20 bucks! There are cute dishes a plenty there, and plenty of organizational shelves, bins, etc. This has been really helpful to me, who struggles with organization. They've got a wide selection of frames, and, I've gotten a bunch of really cute little paintings/wall hangings there for very little. They're nothing that belongs in an MFA or anything, but cute, pretty things. The walls of our kitchen/living room area are just a dull, stark white, and for the longest time I felt like something was missing. I got a couple little decorations, probably under 5 bucks for the two of them, and along with a couple wood paintings I had from college, they really pulled the room together and made it feel more homey. I also got a pretty wreath like thing of flowers that now hangs on our front door. Here's the link to world-wide locations, if anyone wants to check it out. I'm in the SF bay area, and go to the Daly City location often. It's right across from Target, seriously, what could be better? http://www.daiso-sangyo.co.jp/english/storeinfo/storeinfo03.html Enjoy!
