Hey I've been borderline broke for the past two years now (I work as a fulltime volunteer in downtown LA) and hate how expensive food is- especially healthy food. So i've been browsing the.99centonly stores around here and surprise, surprise they've got some really great healthy stuff. Everything listed is.99cents and they are all over LA
1. Chips and Salsa. The big bag of corn chips and 26oz jar of (really good!) salsa (I get the Rosemarino brand). It's very healthy, totally filling, and a bag and jar can last you a week or two, depending on how much you eat. Definatly the best $2 snack i've run across
2. Chicken legs- a $1 pack has 6 legs in it and it tastes great. If you need something to kick up the taste try putting brown sugar or honey on top, or even salsa or pasta.
3. Fruit- the big bags of Bannannas, Oranges, Apples, ect.. And for a veggie snack try the carrot bags with penut butter- it's great to have a bit of this about an hour before you work out!
4. Alvacado and Turkey Sandwiches. These seriously rock my face off. Get a 3-pack of Alvacados, a 3-pack of Crossaints, a block of chesse, a pack of turkey meat or even use broiled chicken. Use the alvacado the way you would use mayo or something, just warm it up and spread. Hope this helps- these snacks are actually good-tasting so enjoy ;0)
