Help! For the last 2 years, chiggers have made their presence painfully known on my 4 acres. I have no idea where they came from, as I've lived here 8 years, and the first 6 were completely chigger-free. It's gotten so bad I can't go outside at all without having dowsed myself in buckets of bug juice, and even then I get painful, huge welts...it's very depressing. I feel like Bubble-Boy, sitting inside and staring at my gardens. My yard is surrounded by a river, a small "woods," and a state bike trail (which is also edged by woods), so I have no idea how to tackle this...except to move from my sweet home...any suggestions would be welcome. I live in zone 4-5; a cold winters didn't seem to affect the chigger population. Will it ever go away as mysteriously as it arrived?
