I planted some chives last year, but this year the plant is really taking off, and is sending up flower buds for the first time. I know with some herbs, like basil, the flowers need to be removed to keep the plant alive, but since the chives are a perennial I’m not sure what to do. If I just let it flower, what happens? The flowers are so pretty, but I want to have chives to eat for the rest of the season, too. I can’t seem to find a straight answer online.
