I bought a clematis earlier in the year, it was nothing but a tiny little vine when I first planted it. I planted it in the backyard on a trellis with full sun, and it took off. Over the last couple of weeks I've watched the buds form. I normally go out every morning and check on the plants. Wednesday morning I did not. Yesterday morning I went out, and it looked like it was wilting, dying. I immediately watered it, hoping it would spring back to life. I went out again this morning - nothing - no change. In fact, some of the leaves that were really wilted yesterday are shriveled to a crisp, and i pulled them off. There's no browning, no bugs (from what i can see), just a very, very sad plant. The other plants around it are fine - I have petunias, salvia, merigolds and black eyed susans growing in the same bed. They all get watered the same, and they are all doing fine. What did I do? What can I do? HELP!
