Someone gave me a Clivia last year, and I took it home and told my boyfriend that it could be his plant, since it can take quite a bit of neglect. He ignored it for a while (i.e. nearly 6 months, while I looked after it) until I reminded him of its existence, whereupon he poured some water he had been using to rinse out an oatmeal pot on to it. A few days later and it's blooming! The guy who gave it to me said it would bloom in February (it didn't) and here it is, July, and it's got lovely yellow flowers. I'll take a picture tomorrow, but for now, here's a generic Google image search result: Originally from South Africa, doesn't mind being dry for a while, or pot-bound, and apparently likes oatmealy water!
