Closing credit card account?
I have 5 credit cards, 4 of which I use on a regular basis and pay off each month. The fifth I was kind of peer pressured into; a friend of mine works at Victoria's Secret and asked me to apply. I have purchased one thing on it (at the time I signed up for it) in the past year. I know Suze Orman says to not close accounts, because you'll lose your history and your credit:debt ratio will change. However, could it be negatively affecting my credit because I don't use it? Also, I don't really think one purchase one time in the past year is a reflection of my history. And, it has about a $750 limit on it, and my other cards combined have ~$7000 available credit. That would reduce my available credit less than 10%. I really am unsure what to do. I don't want this to reflect poorly on my credit score, so which is the lesser of two evils: closing the account or leaving it open?
